Mission Statement

Helping People Discover and Enjoy Full Life in Jesus Christ

Helping people

The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) places the responsibility for spreading the Gospel upon the church. It is God’s chosen vessel for communication.

The Great Commandment (Matthew 22:39) places the responsibility of caring for the needs of others upon each individual.

A truly full and satisfying life is only achieved through a growing and fruitful relationship with Jesus Christ (John 10:10, Romans 5:1)

Values

These are the priorities in all of our decision-making. These values will be applied to every stewardship decision we make including our prayer life, schedule, relationships, ministry events, preaching and budget.

Lost People Matter to God

The Family

Community

Personal Growth

Risk Taking

Lost People Matter to God

The most important people on the face of this planet are people that don’t know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior because they are one breath away from an eternity in Hell.

WLCC has a responsibility to fulfill the Great Commission by reaching out to our community through strategic personal evangelism, periodic outreach events and making our church very accessible to those outside our church.

Every person has the right to a presentation of the Gospel at his or her level of understanding.

It is imperative for the church to be relevant in all communication with this lost world.

WLCC has a responsibility to fulfill the Great Commission by reaching out to our world through support of global missions and missionaries that are “called” to the uttermost parts of the world.

WLCC will invest it’s energies in helping people to develop strong and healthy families.

We will carefully evaluate and manage our calendar to make sure that family is not sacrificed for the sake of our program.

We will focus our energies on ministry that serves the family as a group.

The Family

The Family is the most important ministry “department” in the church. It is God’s chosen environment for raising the children that He loves. It is where the most intense discipleship is accomplished. Most of our life lessons (both good and bad) are learned in the home.

Community

In planting this church we were “called” to a community. Rather than isolate ourselves from the community we seek to understand and influence our community through meaningful participation. The Great Commission is clear in its methodology. According to Mark 16:15, are to go into all the world to preach the Gospel.

We will expand our circle of influence by becoming involved in community events and organizations in leadership and servant capacities.

We will strategically identify community organizations and focus our involvement in such a way as to maximize our potential for influence and relationship building

We will seek to understand our community through continual research and personal involvement.

We will view our role in the community as servants

God exists in community (the Trinity) and we (the church) are called to be a community of believers. Acts 2:42-43 describes an intense devotion to community within the early church. Enjoying each other and sharing ourselves within the community of the church is an essential element of our spiritual existence.

WLCC is a part of a much greater church (i.e. the Kingdom of God) and seeks to cooperate and partner with other churches in the community and around the world to advance the Gospel.

Personal Growth

Discipleship is at the core of the Great Commission. 2 Thessalonians 1:3, 1 Peter 2:2, 2 Peter1:5-6, and 2 Peter 3:18, among others, all instruct us to grow in different dimensions of our spiritual life. In order for the church to fulfill its mission it must help facilitate spiritual growth by providing:

Formal Discipleship programs. Every believer is a disciple and is in need of personal growth.

Discovery of each Believer’s Spiritual Gifts according to Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4.

Opportunity and accountability to serve the Body with those gifts.

Risk taking in the kingdom is not recklessness. It is the simple response of obedience to the Word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Faith cause us to see beyond natural limitations of resources, abilities and natural vision (2Corinithians 5:7, Hebrews 11:1)

We support people who are willing to put their faith on the line and step out onto the water.

Risk Taking

This might be a strange value for a church but the Bible says that without Faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Every great event and every hero recorded in the scripture is associated with a large step of faith that involved personal risk and a belief that God is able to do “exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,” Ephesians 3:20 [NASB]. We believe in an omnipotent God that is able and willing to work through His people.

We believe that God grows/rewards His people by stretching them through corporate and individual Faith Challenges (Hebrews 11:6)

Vision

One of the most powerful descriptions of the New Testament church is found in Acts 17:6. The church was making disciples and the effects were being felt in the community. In fact the charge brought against the believers in the secular court at Thessalonica was that “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too. [NKJV]”

We believe that the church is still the most powerful spiritual force on this planet. As such we have the responsibility to change the world. We will do so through simple obedience to the Word of God and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

The keyword is open. Our services are open to everyone who wishes to come. We welcome believers and skeptics from any denomination, backsliders, seekers and anyone interested in experiencing something a little different on a Sunday morning.

Our services begin with a time of fellowship around some coffee and discussion groups. We will also be setting up chairs and moving things into place. And you are welcome to pitch in.

Our worship focuses on the person of Jesus Christ. Our musical style is contemporary and our purpose is to help everyone draw close to Him.

The Lord Jesus promised to be present when two or more of us gather in His name. We take this promise literally.

Our message comes straight from the pages of the Bible. The Gospel message is simple and direct.

It needs to be understood so we are committed to a style of preaching that reveals its essential truth with personal application that is relevant to our daily life.

It needs to be believed, so we are committed to providing proofs of its transforming power and its truth.

It has to be acted upon, so we will provide opportunity to respond personally at each service.

We believe that the Gospel can be effectively presented in many different forms. It can be preached, performed through drama, music and creative use of video. We strive to use all of these in our services.

Our dress is casual. Come as you are. We do. We don’t want clothing to be a barrier to people coming in to our services.

We provide Nursery and Toddler and Children’s Church ministry for every service.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

One of the best times to get involved with a church is when it is getting started. A new church has the potential to do things a little differently. We have the opportunity to take a fresh look at the community and focus our resources to meet the needs of the community as it exists today. In a new church, all of the relationships are new so it is easier to get connected. There are no cliques to try and penetrate. There is an opportunity for a fresh start, especially if you haven’t been in a church for years. Since everyone is a newcomer, there are no expectations other than to be a part of us and help where you can. There are many ways to get connected to Western Loudoun Community Church.

One way is to simply show up at our services. We meet at Round Hill Elementary School Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Another way is to get involved in one of our home fellowship groups. We currently have one large home group but plan to substantially expand this dimension of ministry with home groups meeting in neighborhoods throughout the area. You may also call the church office (540) 751-1770. We would be pleased to talk with you or meet to discuss your spiritual growth and how WLCC can help you. Whichever way is most convenient for you, you’re invited to join us.

We are about fulfilling the Great Commission and living the Great Commandment. We strive to reach out to people because People Matter so much to God. We exist to help others discover and enjoy full life in Jesus Christ. We are about building up Families because they are God’s chosen ministry “department” to disciple His children. We are about being actively involved in our Community rather than creating a separate community isolated from our neighbors. We encourage and celebrate taking personal and corporate Risk in order to enable spiritual growth and expand the Kingdom, because “without faith it is impossible to please God”. We are about Reproducing ourselves through intentional discipleship and a commitment to plant other churches as the Lord leads us.
